Maple Grove Parents Encouraged to Install Donated Smoke Detectors

The Massac County and Metropolis Fire Departments visited Maple Grove School on Thursday, October 18, 2007 and donated smoke detectors for each family represented by students at Maple Grove School. The smoke detectors went home with the students at the end of the day Thursday so that their parents could install them in their homes before the heating season begins.

The two fire departments also presented fire safety demonstrations to the classes at Maple Grove. The "fire safety" house and Sparky, the fire dog, were present to reinforce the fire safety lessons.

Parents, please install your smoke alarms immediately. The alarms have a battery and are ready for mounting on your ceiling.  Smoke alarms save lives.
