Students at Joppa High School
were offered help in their decision making on December 13, 2006. The
students watched a film called Freedom Calls which touched many of
the students at the school. The film featured contemporary rock songs and
featured stories of individuals who have had difficult times in their own
lives in which they were able to overcome. The overall purpose of the
presentation was to teach students to live their lives with conviction,
courage, and ambition. Each of those three challenges had a personal story
in which each individual told a story about how they were able to overcome
obstacles regardless of how others tried to dissuade them. Students at
Joppa High School were able to relate to the stories as they were all
relevant to the lives of people from all over, including Joppa. Following
the film presentation the CSM Joe Dagley of the Illinois National Guard
discussed how much courage it takes from one day to the next, not only in
the battle for freedom in America but also how we have to continuously fight
for our own personal freedom as individuals through the ongoing battle of
lives trials and tribulations.
